Be Known For Something
Why do I have to be known for something?
Well in truth, you don’t NEED to be known for something, but it definitely helps to be have some reason to be known for. From Alice Cooper to Buddy Holly, musicians have a brand that they have made around themselves. There are shock rockers, death metal players, barbershop quartets in funny suits and hats, and even bands who are just known for an incredible live show.
What could I be known for?
You could literally be known for anything you want. It could be as simple as everyone in your band wearing flip flops to all your shows, to everyone dressing up in KISS style makeup, and having fireworks go off behind you. Anything that sets you apart from ALL THE OTHER TEEN BANDS, with their street clothes, and blah music, will put you in the lead for having an interesting, and fun to watch live band.
Steps to Take:
- Talk to your band about what your “thing” could be
- Draw inspiration from your favorite bands
- Don’t be afraid to start small, and slowly do bigger things, but you should be consistent in your “thing”
In summary:
- Find something your band can be known for
- This will set you apart from the rest of the crowd of teenage bands
- This will give you an interesting aspect that will leave audience members remembering your interesting band
