Give Aways – Free Stuff
What is a giveaway?
As I talked about briefly in some of the other “Fans” sections, a giveaway is a promotional tactic used by bands, people, corporations, you name it! Would you go to a promotional event for Coca Cola if they promised everyone who went a FREE Coke? I thought so. This is the same with bands, and giveaways, they’ll bring people out to your events.
What can I giveaway?
Giveaways can be anything that people would want. If you want to giveaway small prizes, such as t-shirts, or band apparel, that’s great! Or if you wanted to go bigger, you could offer backstage passes to a select amount of people, or the chance to be in a band music video. All of these things will help promote your band, and help get you more fans.
Steps to take:
- Come up with some ways, or things to use in a giveaway
- Spread the word about the giveaway!
- Offer a variety of prized only for the first people to show up
In doing giveaways like this, you may end up loosing a hundred bucks or so, but over time, with people wearing your band shirts, and talking about how cool your giveaway was, more people will end up coming down to see your shows, and paying the entrance fees, and buying your band apparel, which will ultimately pay off.
In summary:
- Free things appeal to people in a big way
- Don’t be stingy with giving stuff away, it’s better to have people with your stuff, who will promote you
- A lot of people will spread the word faster then just you. Have them spread the word of your band as well
